It was a monumental week in the Tae Kwon Do arena. Ella tested for her yellow belt. This was her first belt test since starting Tae Kwon Do about 7 weeks ago. She replicated the “move” sequence as directed. Then she broke her first board with her bare hand and a very loud “high yah!”
I was amazed to the point of tears!! It was a real wood board and we did get to keep it. After she broke it, MasterYang sent her over to give it to me with 2 hands (a sign of respect). Then she was instructed to give me a big hug! Awesome!!!
Cousins Sophia and Joe also got their yellow belts as well as our friends Julia and Sophia. What a big deal!!!
As far as Theo goes, he is perfectly happy watching Bugs Bunny on my iphone while we watched Ella’s belt test. Theo is all boy. Retro cartoons, tractor sightings, blue tongues, jumping off couches, tantrums about baths and diaper changes. He is SOOO different from Ella at 2.5 yrs!
Little side note: Tae Kwon do is really an amazing art/sport. It is incredibly aerobic at times, requires discipline and manners as well. Master Yang recognized Ella’s shyness and has worked with her without pushing her too much. Ella’s confidence is growing through her accomplishments and I think it has been transforming for her! Yea Ella!!
